My WIFE is a Youth Pastor

Women should not be pastors

May 2, 2008 · 6 Comments

That is probably what some of you are thinking right now.  And you are judging me for being married to one or my wife for being one, or our church for allowing women to be pastors.  Well judge all you want, say what you want.  The bottom line is I am not going to argue with you.  I don’t have the time and nor do I care.  It is just a non-essential that I am going to leave alone.  There are way more important things to worry about than this.

Part of the calling for my wife into youth ministry was breaking down gender barriers.

Incidentally, my wife just got ordained by our church in Tucson. We’re really happy, and we’re looking forward to getting her on as full-time paid staff.

Joel, that’s awesome. There are a lot of churches breaking that barrier. Thanks for reading.

i remember way back when about 5 years ago or so, when someone in our church left katie a note with no name saying she should step down from being a youth pastor because she wasn’t being a good mom and wife. it said she worked too much and blah, blah, blah. i was so stinking mad! but that incident has driven me to love and support her all i can with her ministry. i know she and others are changing kids’ lives and thats what counts!

Want a funny read on a related topic?

People who “Don’t get it”. I’ve had to tell people 4 times within an hour that “no, she’s the pastor” – and they still don’t get it.
