Online Videos

Do you have a YouTube, Viddler, Blip or Vimeo account or does the church you go to have one?  Or the ministry your wife works for?  If so what are they?  I always like to see what other churches are doing.  Or do you know of a church who has their videos online?  If so, add your comment and put what church or churches are using YouTube or other video sites really well.

Summertime: no, not the Fresh Prince hit

Being that summer is coming closer, what will yours look like with your wife.  Is it going to be busier than normal for her?  Will you get to see more of her or less?  If less, how do you make sure it is quality time?  Are you going to go to summer camp?  I am.  They take two trips and I will be going on the second one.  Are you and your wife taking a vacation?  I hope your summer is fun and relaxing not boring and crazy.

More Awesome online tools?

What are some online tools you use?  For example YouVersion.  Are there any you would recommend or any you would stay away from?  

So your wife is the pastor, what do you do?

What do you do for a living?  I am a chaplain and teach yearbook and coach basketball at a private Christian school and a volunteer for my wife at our church.

What does your role look like at church?

This question was brought up by Joel in this comment. “I volunteer in the youth ministry on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. It can be tough to discern whether I’m there as a volunteer, or as a spouse supporting his youth pastor wife. So, which is it for other spouses? At youth group, are you a volunteer, or a spouse, or a lot of both?

For myself I would say I lean more on the volunteer side, but definitely support my wife when I can and more than any one else on staff would.  But I guess that comes with the territory.

What does your weekend look like?

Right now I am home watching horse racing.  The Preakness to be exact.   My wife is at a student’s play and then off to evening service.  It actually works out being that my wife really doesn’t care about horse racing.  Tomorrow I will wake up and head to church with her to go to JH service at 9 and the adult service at 11.  This will all change in a few weeks when some times change and a service is added.  What do your weekends look like when or if your wife has to even work weekends or maybe it is Wednesday nights.

How do you encourage and support your wife?

“Married to a Youth Pastor”  just had a contest on how wives encourage their youth pastor husbands.  But you as the husband of a youth pastor, how do you encourage your wife or support her? 

Here are a few things I do for my wife that seem pretty simple, but seem to be great.

• Let her watch her TV shows when she gets home after a late night at work
• Take her to breakfast at her favorite breakfast place the next morning
• Go to the beach and just hang out and watch the sunset

Free TV and movies online

This is a great website for wherever you are and you have some time or need something to do.  Maybe you are at church lat ewith your wife because she has some work to do, or you are at home and have nothing to do.  Check out HULU.  This is a great website to use to catch up on your TV shows. It also has some full length movies on it.  The only downside is that there are a few commercials, but it is not really that bad.

Awesome online tools: YouVersion

I am going to start putting awesome online tools on here for you.  You will love these and your wife will love them if you don’t already know about them.  Yesterday I posted about wethechurch.org.  

My next online tool that is really incredible is YouVersion.  It was developed by Lifechurch.tv.  The best way to sum it up is that it is an online Bible with a journal.  In other words you can set up a profile, read the Bible and then journal about what you read.  And it’s all online.  Of course there are other great components to it, but those are my two favorite.  Another awesome piece is that you can contribute to the site.  If you know of a good sermon on John 3:16 or any verse you can attach it to it so other people can read it, or view it or listen to it. Something else great about it is that they just recently released the mobile version of it. Check these out.  They are excellent tools.  Tomorrow I will post about another tool for you.
